KAUST's Climate and Livability Initiative tackles aims to identify, guide, and deliver strategies and solutions that address the multi-faceted climate challenge, including its cascading impacts and the needed mitigation and adaptation measures through four key lines of inquiry:

1. Gaining insights on land and marine processes through high-res observation 
2. Developing strategies for mitigating and adapting to environmental impacts
3. Rehabilitating degraded land and marine ecosystems 
4. Guiding the development of resilient, sustainable cities
