Unlocking and De-risking Innovative Financing in Small Island Developing States
This challenge will share and explore experiences and showcase opportunities for enhancing financing in Small Island Developing States (SIDS). It will demonstrate opportunities for sustainable development financing strategies and identify opportunities for strengthening the effectiveness of investments and enhancing access to finance.
Through the Joint SDG Fund, the UN system, is committed to building bridges and forging partnerships that will help unlock capital for the SDGs with innovative blended finance solutions tailored to country-level needs. This cannot be done unless public and private capital reaches the people, geographies and economies that need it the most. Focused on fostering innovation by combining public and private financing in catalytic investing in Small Island Developing States, the UN offers political de-risking and financial de-risking by contributing to blended finance structures with direct technical assistance, guarantees, and concessional capital.
This challenge invites climate thought leaders to advance discussions about innovative financing necessary to achieve the 2030 Agenda.
